Scope of Work:
The contract was signed by HRH PRINCE SULTAN BIN ABDUL AZIZ on June 18, 2006.
The Main Facilities of the development program are expected to be completed in 18month period while the remaining facilities will be completed at the end of the 24-month contract period.
The project consists of the design and construction of a new terminal building to handle 500 passengers per hour, along with land side support facilities:
Control tower, fire & rescue Bldg., Cargo Bldg., Saudi line Maintenance Bldg. Power plant with transformer units, Chiller Plant, Main gate, Guard Houses, Administration Building, Mosque, Guard barracks Facilities, Bachelor accommodations, Water Tanks and pump rooms, Sewage treatment plant, Airfield Building, Radar Station, Meteor observatory, Upper Air station Bldg., Shaded parking, Roads and Infrastructure.

Airside, Aprons and Taxiway Scope of Work:
Air side, works included design of a new runway and taxi way, upgrade of existing runway, construction of a new taxi way and aprons in addition to all related services.
The new airport will accommodate B777, B747, MD90, and Airbus 300.
